Media mix

Last week I was telling you about Social Marketing. Since then I am sure that you have seen some good examples of this. Feel free to comment and share the link to your examples!

This week I will continue to discuss marketing. I found this weeks marketing lecture about media channels and advertisement interesting!

There are many different media channels to advertise in, all have their pros and cons. Depending on which target group you want to reach some channels can be better than others. That is why it is important to choose the right one to be successful with marketing. One thing that the lecture covered is what a media mix is. That can be explained by the following:

  • The media mix is the blend of media that are used to give a combined advertising effect (Reidy 2020)

If you compare the way you use different media with how your parents or children do, it is probably differences. Therefore,  I think you all can agree that social media might be a better place for advertisements than newspapers if you target young people. If it is the opposite that the target group is older, newspapers might be better. This is one example of how a media mix can be used by companies to reach out to each target group with the most suitable media channel.

From your media use, do you recognise that the companies are using a media mix?
